Charles “Red” North, 82, of Bolton, loving husband of the late Carol (White) North, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Born in Rockville, the son of the late Charles and Esther (Aborn) North, he grew up and lived in Rockville and Ellington before moving to Bolton thirty-seven years ago. Prior to his retirement, Red was employed by the Town of Vernon water pollution control authority for 32 years. He served in the Connecticut Army National Guard and was a staff sergeant and a sharp shooter in the 169th Infantry, Yankee Division in Vernon. Red was proud of his service in the Rockville Fire Department for 19 years, and he served 21 years in the Bolton Fire Department. He was a life member of the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury. Red was an avid UCONN women’s basketball fan and a longtime football fan, especially of the New York Giants. He is survived by his beloved children, Marjorie Lucia and her husband Jon of Moline, IL, Daniel North and his wife Denise of Manchester, and Gerrie Ouellette and her husband John of Stafford Springs; four grandchildren, Katie Bardaro and her husband Michael, Ari Lucia, Daniel North II, and Nick Ouellette; three great grandchildren, Liam North, and Isabella and Zachary Bardaro, and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his son, Charles “Rusty” North. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Avenue, Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Rockville. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Red Cross, Connecticut Chapter, 209 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06032.
