Christopher Stephen Litchfield, 37, of Granby, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born in Hartford on June 19, 1979, son of David and Sheri (Schmid) Litchfield of North Granby, he was raised in Granby and was a graduate of Granby Memorial High School, Class of 1998. Chris was a co-owner of a locally owned family business, The Christopher Bryant Co, in Bloomfield. In his spare time, he enjoyed off-roading in his custom-built Jeep that he spent hours perfecting and modifying for the next race or off-road adventure. He was a member of COREC, the Connecticut Off Road Enthusiasts Coalition, an organization that promotes dedicating land for the off-road community. He loved dogs and rescued three Rottweilers over the years including his current dog, "Ruger." Most of all, Chris will be remembered as a caring person who was sought after for his counsel and guidance and would do anything to help his family, friends and strangers. Besides his parents, David and Sheri Litchfield, he leaves a son, Christopher P. Litchfield and daughter, Mia Litchfield of West Hartland; a brother, Bryan Litchfield and his wife Laura of East Granby; three sisters, Shanan and her husband Steve Moore of West River, MD, Kylee and her husband Rick Ferkel of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and Taylor Litchfield of North Granby; his maternal grandfather, Rev. Albert Schmid of North Granby; a nephew, Caleb Litchfield; two nieces, Hailey Litchfield and Hadley Moore; his long time girlfriend, Katrina Verre of Granby; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. His family will receive friends on Thursday, June 15, 4-8 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Ron Foley Foundation, 1000 Farmington Avenue, Suite 108A, West Hartford, CT 06107.
