Wrapped in the arms of his loving parents, five-year-old Jacob Roger Poulin of Ellington, CT, was born peacefully into his new life with our Heavenly Father in the early morning of his dad's October 1, 2016, birthday. Born on April 27, 2011, in Farmington, CT, Jacob faced every challenge with courage and strength and ran every race with endurance. From doing pushups for fun, to running laps around our home for time, to mastering the monkey bars at three years old, to aspiring to be the first American Ninja Warrior Kid, Jacob thrived on competition. Yet, even with his competitive nature, his sportsmanship, compassion, and kindness were beyond measure. These traits made Jacob easily loved by his classmates and teachers, alike, at the Center School Preschool Program. For two years, he adored and was adored by his teachers, Mrs. Connolly, Mrs. Cheeseman, and Mrs. Desrocher. Always smiling, always polite and courteous, Jacob always believed the best in everyone and took special interest to befriend the newcomer. Jacob loved his sisters, Gaba and The Baby, and loved being their big brother. He also loved Jesus deeply, choosing to read his bible over all other books every night. The light of Jesus shined through Jacob in the brightest way. Jacob also really enjoyed building Legos, playing with Transformers, and playing soccer with his mommy. While a natural at all athletic endeavors, Jacob had a special gift for hockey and shared the love of the sport with his daddy. Even as a four-year-old playing with and against five to eight year olds on the Mites for the NEYHA Ice Dogs, Jacob would consistently go "beast mode," scoring multiple goals and assists in almost every game. Spectators would comment that he was a little pit bull out on the ice, never afraid of anyone and always in the middle of the action. Some of his accolades include scoring seven goals in one game and a Hat Trick in one shift! Known as "hockey flow," Jacob's beautiful, blonde, curly, locks could be seen peeking out under the helmet of #4. Jacob loved his coaches and teammates and was excited to play for the newly branded Northeast Huskies this coming season. Jacob is survived by everyone who ever loved him; his adoring parents, Steve and Sarah; sisters, Gabriella (3) and Hannah (18 months); paternal grandparents, Roger and Helen Poulin; maternal grandparents, Lilli Palin and Kevin Killeen, step-grandmother Marcia Killeen; great grandparents Richard and Angela Bozzuto; Aunt Nancy and Uncle Sorin Nicolescu; Aunt Rachelle and Uncle Joe Giordano; Aunt Molly Killeen; Aunt Emma Killeen; Cousins Philip, Julia, and Daniel Nicolescu, and Isabella, Donovan, and Tobias Giordano; and numerous loving great aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jacob also leaves behind many dear friends that are like family, especially the Bartholomew family and Richie Thompson. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 7th, 2016, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Church of the Living God, 199 Deming Street, Manchester, CT. At the request of the family, please feel free to wear your JP t-shirts or other sports affiliated clothing on Friday. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Living God on Saturday, October 8th, 2016, beginning at 11:00am with burial immediately to follow at the Ellington Center Cemetery, 95 Maple Street, Ellington, CT. The family is in the process of establishing a charity in Jacob's name. For more information about opportunities to make a future donation, please email info@JacobRogerPoulinFoundation.org Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home in Vernon is caring for the Arrangements.
