Leo Rosen, 91, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Harriet (Ginsburg) Rosen, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford, Leo was the son of the late Solomon and Lena (Schneider) Rosen. Following his graduation from high school, Leo honorably served as an Aviation Electronic Technician in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning home, he earned his bachelor's degree in engineering from Trinity College and pursued a lifelong career as an attorney following his graduation from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1950 and later earned admission to practice in several federal courts, including the U.S. District Court of Connecticut, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He initially worked as a clerk in Hartford's Police Court from 1955-1958 and later went on to enjoy over 45 years of private practice. In addition to his firm's work, he was the attorney for the Town of Bloomfield from 1973-1985, and served as Past President of the Harford Mutual Society. As a WWII era veteran, Leo was a proud member of American Legion Post 45 and the Jewish War Veterans. He was a dedicated husband, son, father, and grandfather, and will be truly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. In addition to his loving wife Harriet of 31 years, Leo is survived by his two sons, Dr. Matthew Rosen of New Hempstead, NY, and Bernard J. Rosen of Mequon, WI; daughters Edith S. Rosen, Esq. of Tampa Bay, FL, Nancy Stillman of Ellington, Amy Hurley of Waltham, MA, Debra Lopez of Windsor, and Rebecca Stillman of Rocky Hill; brother Herman R. Rosen of Scottsdale, AZ; and eight adored grandchildren. A funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov 30, 2016 at 1 pm in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. Burial will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 65 Wolcott Road in East Granby. Rabbi Alan Lefkowitz will officiate. Shiva will be held at his late home after the funeral on Wednesday, Thursday from 5-8 pm, and Sunday from 4-8 pm. Prayers will be held each evening at 7 pm.
