Loretta M. (Paradis) Padegimas, 89, of South Windsor, beloved wife of John A. Padegimas, died peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at a local convalescent home. She was born on September 5, 1925 in Ft. Kent, Maine, daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (DuFour) Paradis. Loretta was married to the love of her life, John in 1948 and together they settled in South Windsor, where they raised their family. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was active in the parish community for many years. Loretta loved to play cards with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the senior center, and at her lake house on Lake Chaffee where she enjoyed many summers. Along with her husband John, of over 66 years, she leaves her son, Donald Padegimas and his wife Catherine of South Windsor, her daughter, Janet Hill and her husband Peter of South Windsor; her brother, Edwin Paradis and his wife Rachel of Bristol; her sisters, Cecile Caron of Hartford and Marie Kloc and her husband Theodore of E. Hartford; grandchildren, Alex Hill of Colchester, VT, Spencer Hill of W. Hartford, Jennifer Karcich and her husband Derek of Deep River and Alison Fetta and her husband Fiorigio of South Windsor; and great grandchildren, Kaia and Braden Karcich and Fiorigio and Domenico Fetta. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wilfred and Sylvio Paradis and sisters, Anna Coulomb, Lottie Charette, Eva Bernier and Mae Richards. Her family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, March 28, 2015, 8:30 am, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9:30 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Poquonock section of Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor, CT 06074 and / or Alzheimer's Association , CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
