Raymond J. Griffen, Sr., 65, of Vernon, passed away on June 12 at home surrounded by his loving family. Raymond was born in Hartford to the late Raymond L. and Josephine (Sperini) Griffen on November 8, 1951. He worked with CT Transit as a bus driver. Raymond had a huge passion for fishing, NASCAR and camping. He worked sound and lighting and was a drum tech for the band, Hot Head Slater. Raymond loved his family and spending time with his children. Raymond is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lisa (Markowicz) Griffen; his sons Raymond Griffen, Jr. of Stafford, Craig Griffen and his wife Chelsea of Rocky Hill; daughters Jennifer Griffen of Florida, and Victoria Griffen of Vernon; sisters Laura Dubek and her husband Richard of Mesa, AZ, Kathleen Mitchell of South Windsor, Patricia Smarrelli of South Windsor; a special nephew Mario Smarrelli, along with several other nephews and nieces. Memorial Calling Hours are being held at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, (Route 83) Vernon, CT from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, June 15, 2017.
