Sheldon Jay Levine, 74, of Windsor, passed away at St. Francis Hospital on Thursday, April 12, 2018. Sheldon was born to the late Bernice (Sweig) Levine and Louis Leon Levine. He was predeceased by his wife, Juanita Irene (Baker) Levine, who passed away in 2004. The couple had been married for thirty-four years, at the time of Juanita’s passing. Born on May 19, 1943, in New Britain, Connecticut, Sheldon (“Shelly”). Shelly was raised in West Hartford, and was a retired educator of thirty-seven years, primarily teaching fourth grade in the East Hartford Public School System. He graduated from Conard High School, and received a Masters Degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University. He was also a life-long member of the NRA. Shelly was a resident of Windsor since 1970, and helped create a beautiful legacy, otherwise known as his family, of which he was extremely proud. He leaves behind his eldest son, Steven Jay Levine, and his devoted wife, Sally(Buck) Levine, along with his youngest son, Kevin Michael Levine, and his husband, Christopher (Howell) Levine. Additionally, Shelly leaves behind his grandchildren: Zachary Buck, Ashlee Rose Irene Levine, Daryn Aiden Levine, Dalton Michael Levine, Justin Patrick Levine, Ryan Jay Levine, and Grace Ellen Levine. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Barbara Lynn (Baker) Latournes, and her husband, William Ellis Latournes (and their children and spouses), and Marjorie (Schwarz) Levine, her children and their significant others. Moreover, he leaves behind many special people who were close to his heart, such as Caitlin Ann Castle-Smith, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Shelly was a giving, loving, gentle, noble, and selfless gentleman, who had an affinity for the Red Sox, music, theatre, playing the organ, animals, and for his little buddy: his dog Doby. His family will receive friends on Monday, April 16 from 12 PM to 1 PM, at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a funeral service at 1 PM.
