BANNING. Shirley Mary Banning, 75, of Windsor, beloved partner for 25 years to Lisa M. Dubay, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born September 16, 1941 in Hartford, daughter of the late Charles E. and Veronica C. (Gwara) Banning, Sr. Shirley had lived in Windsor all her life. Shirley had worked 21 years for Colt Firearms before working for the State of CT for 11 years before retiring. She was a big fan of the UCONN women's basketball team, she loved riding her motorcycle and was a huge animal lover, especially her dogs. She is survived by a brother, Richard J. Banning, Sr. of Windsor Locks; three nephews, Richard Banning, Jr. of Chicopee, MA, Charles E. Banning, III of East Granby, Terry S. Banning of Windsor Locks; a niece, Roxanne J. Martin of Conyers, GA. She was predeceased by nephews, Patrick W. Banning and Timothy J. Banning; a brother, Charles E. Banning, Jr. Her family will receive friends Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 10 AM – 12 PM at Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave. (Rt. 75), Poquonock section of Windsor followed by funeral services at 12 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Hartford Healthcare Hospice, One State St. Suite 19, Hartford, CT 06103.
