Vivian E. Peterson, 81, wife of Santo J. Giangrave of East Hartford and formerly a long- time resident of South Windsor, passed away on January 10th, 2018 at home. She was born May 6, 1936 to the late Oscar and Flora (Ekman) Peterson of Windsor, CT. Vivian attended school in Windsor before moving to Hartford in her early teens. She attended Buckley High School where she met her sweetheart, Sam Giangrave, with whom she recently celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary. Vivian enjoyed gardening, watching the wildlife in her backyard, and caring for her home. She cherished her family, but her greatest love was the relationship she had with her heavenly father, Jehovah God and his son, Jesus. She enjoyed helping others learn of God’s purpose to restore the earth into a beautiful paradise home where people will have the prospect of living forever without sickness or suffering. (Isaiah 35:5, 6 and Revelation 21:3,4) Vivian is survived by her loving husband Sam Giangrave, her son Gregory Giangrave and wife Susan of Vernon, her daughter Pamela Sheeler and husband Michael of Vernon, and her daughter Melissa Governale and husband Peter of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Sarah Leigh and her husband Mark of Tolland, Heather Student and her husband David of Derby, Austin Sheeler and his wife Sarah of Hartford, Jordan Sheeler of Vernon, Jared Governale of Mansfield, Rachel Flaherty and her husband Levi of Windham, Jonathon Governale of Framingham, MA, and Wesley Governale of Mansfield; seven great grandchildren, Taylor and Ava Leigh, Emily, Olivia, Violet and Lily Sheeler, and Colton Flaherty; and her two sisters Hazel Peterson and Ada Peterson of Hartford and in-laws, Paul and Delores Giangrave of Newington, and Josephine Calvo of South Windsor. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Rebekah Giangrave. Friends may call Wednesday, January 17th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. A Memorial talk will be held Saturday, January 20th at 11:00AM at the Vernon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 214 New Bolton Road (Route 6 & 44) Manchester, CT. Burial will be private at the request of the family.
