William A. Bain, 93, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of Gini Bain, died Thursday April 12, 2018. Born in Brookline, MA, the son of the late Alexander and Lois (Allen) Bain. He was raised in Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on February 4, 1943, proudly serving his country on Iwo Jima and Guam. He was a purple heart recipient and a lifetime member of the Iwo Jima Association of America. Bill went on to Boston University and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree. Bill enjoyed his time working at The Duncaster where he retired after 15 years of service in 2004. Bill was a longtime Fire Fighter and Fire Marshal for the Town of Bloomfield. He was also on the Prosser Library Board and Bloomfield Town Council. He enjoyed vacationing with his family on Martha’s Vineyard, Bermuda, and spending time at their home in Putney, VT. He was predeceased by his parents and his son; William A. Bain Jr. He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife of 68 years Gini Bain of Bloomfield, his four children; Stephen R. Bain of Putney, VT, Lissa Hurtado (Rick) of Bloomfield, Susan L. Casner of Avon, Richard Bain of Florida; his eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and his cousins Carolyn Brunick (Phil) of Vernon and Bonnie Finnigan (John) of Burlington, VT. Memorial Contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to McLean Hospice, 75 Great Pond Rd, Simsbury, CT 06070 and Disabled American Veterans, 191 Riverside Ave, Bristol, CT, 06010. Funeral Services and Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
